The fire, which an eyewitness said, broke out at about 2:00 am led to the loss of a wife, her brother and maid.
Sympathizers and family members had showed up in their large numbers to console the husband who has since remained in grief from the shock of the accident.
According to an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said, the wife’s' efforts to rescue some important document from her apartment having escaped earlier, led to her inability to come out safely from the upper room, which has a single pathway for exit.
It was learnt that the fire, which cause could not be ascertained started from the seating room in the building.
The sources said; “When the men of the Lagos State Fire Service arrived the scene, they couldn't do much as they lamented of shortage of water to put off the fire.
Speaking with a reporter, the security-man guarding the property introduced him as Muhammad, explains, "It was the sound of the glass from the seating room where the fire had started that woke me up. The fire as you can see destroyed the whole apartment, which is a total of six rooms.
He added, “I cannot really say what caused the fire, because there was NEPA light all through the night, when the fire was on.All I heard was a loud sound of glass falling from the window side and that was how I woke up, going around to wake the other tenants at the back.
According to him, the husband of the deceased woman and their daughter were able to escape from the room. He added that efforts to get in touch with the owner of the house and agent in charge of the building through text and calls proved abortive since occurrence of the incident.
Men of the Lagos State fire service was said to have helped remove the three dead bodies from the apartment while the building has been sealed off with a tape.
Some family members have since evacuated the corpse of the deceased members with an ambulance.
