 This tragic event, based on eyewitnesses, happened, along the Badagry Expressway at Alakija bus stop, Lagos, as muslims celebrate the end of the Ramadan fast.
The vehicle was carrying a huge 40-foot container with number plates, KRD 526 XP and has caused the death of many passengers in a commercial bus when the container fell of the trailer, and landing
on top of the commercial bus with number plates EPE 972 XH, and also affected commercial motorcyclists. 

According to eyewitnesses the driver of the truck was said to be drunk at the time of the accident and was driving at top speed and in an attempt to dodge the bad portion of the road, the container fell off the trailer and landed on the bus which was heading towards the Mile 2 area with passengers.Management Authority, LASEMA, Mr. Michael Akindele, said that five persons lost their lives while two persons were rescued alive and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment . At press time, they were still in critical conditions. Akindele, the LASEMA boss, said: “The Agency received a distress call via the Control Room CRM at about 8a.m. Investigation conducted by the Emergency Response Team, ERT, at the scene of the incident revealed that the containerised vehicle lost its brake, rammed into the commercial mini bus and then fell on okada riders.” Beside LASEMA’s ERT, officials of Lagos State Fire Service; Police; Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA; Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC; Lagos State Ambulance Services, LASAMBUS; and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, CCECC, were involved in the rescue operation.
