Tragedy again struck under
the Toyota Bus Stop fly over bridge on Oshodi/Apapa Expressway when a hit and
run vehicle crushed a teenager to death.
An eyewitness told Reflextunes that the
teenager whose identity could not be traced, as at press time was a lotto agent
and in his attempt to cross the expressway was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The eyewitness further stated that
immediately the accident occurred, the motorist sped off and left the victim in
a pool of his own blood.
Only two days ago, a motorcyclist lost his
life when he collided with another colleague at Owode along Ikorodu Road. The
incident occurred despite ban on operations of commercial motorcyclists on 475
roads of 9, 200 roads across the state.
It would also be recalled that former
governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola in August 2012 signed the Lagos
State Traffic Bill into law.
According to him, the new law is the state
government intervention to the disturbing records of road accidents especially
those caused by reckless driving and activities of commercial motorcyclists.
Section 3 sub-sections 1 of
the law stipulates that no person shall ride, drive or propel a cart,
wheelbarrow, motorcycle or tricycle on any of the routes specified in Schedule
11.
