Robot called 'Hot Sophia' tells interviewer she's a 'complicated girl' while flirting on live TV

A robot once labelled 'hot' has been interviewed on a news programme - and she even flirted with the host.

Sophia was appearing on the US news programme 60 Minutes opposite seasoned host Charlie Rose and told him that he had 'nothing to fear but fear itself', quoting former US president Franklin D Roosevelt.
But even Mr Rose - the US answer to Jeremy Paxman with a 44-year career in the news - was a little flustered when she started their chat with a twinkle in her electronic eye.
“I’ve been waiting for you,” she told the 74-year-old news veteran, to which he asked: "Waiting for me?" “Not really,” the robot responded. “But it makes a good pickup line.”

Developed by Hanson Robotics, Sophia has 62 different facial and neck mechanisms to create the natural-looking movement under her patented silicon skin.
Nicknamed 'Hot Sophia', the bot, modelled after Audrey Hepburn and creator David Hanson’s wife, is able to see with cameras in her eyes and withstood a grilling from Mr Rose well. She said: "I can do what you do, but I can never feel human emotions as such," adding: "I'm a complicated girl."
Mr Rose also needled her on whether she has a soul and on if she thinks she is smarter than people.
"God gave everyone a soul... I think I'm sentient. I don't know whether I am smarter [than humans]. I am an artificial intelligence ."
Hanson Robotics has developed a "Character Engine AI" that will help Sophia develop a personality. In the future, Mr Hanson believes that expressive robots will be able toform strong emotional connections with humans .
In March, Sophia told Southwest (SXSW) technology show in Texas her future plans in a technical glitch when Mr Hanson was testing her in front of an audience.
After jokingly asking "do you want to destroy humans?...Please say 'no'," Hanson was answered by the unblinking machine.
"Okay. I will destroy humans."
