Teenager Dies Of Alleged Pregnancy Abortion, Resurrects In Grave In Delta

It was a drama yesterday as a 14 year-old secondary girl identified as Oghenevwaire (surname withheld) reportedly woke up in the grave at the Warri Cemetery in Delta. 

It was gathered that the girl who had lived with her parents at the nearby Radio Road, Warri, initially died in her alleged attempt at aborting a five month-old pregnancy when she drank pregnancy abortion concoction a week earlier, based on the alleged advice of her parents who allegedly kicked against the pregnancy and the paternity of the pregnancy, It was alleged that a young man who claimed to have been responsible of the pregnancy, had been in the prisons custody at Warri Prison over alleged robbery incident. 

It was further gathered that the father of the pregnant teenager vowed to ensure that his daughter does not mother a child for a jail bird. A source told our correspondent that Oghenevwaire was stone dead from her parent’s residence before she was taken to the nearby Warri Cemetery on the fateful day “as the grave was being covered with sand, the undertakers (grave diggers) and sympathizers noticed that she (Oghenevwaire) shook her body to the amazement of everybody that was present. She was then brought out of the grave with the intention of taking her to the Warri Central Hospital for immediate treatment”. 

Meanwhile the bizarre incident caused pandemonium as passers-by, including little children trooped to the Warri Cemetery to see the miracle of the century for themselves. In the process, there was traffic gridlock on the busy Cemetery Road up to the nearby Cemetery Junction by Warri/Sapele Road as everybody in the rowdy crowd was eager to rush Oghenevwaire to the Warri Central Hospital for treatment almost suffocating her in the process. 

Somehow the wish of the excited crowd could not materialize as the teenager who was eventually rushed in a commercial tricycle (Keke) to the Warri Central Hospital unfortunaelt, could not make it as she was said to have given up the ghost at the hospital. 

To compound the issues for the parents of the late Oghenevwaire, residents at Old Welfare Street was besieged by angry residents including peers of the dead teenagers said to be in the unholy trade of teenage prostitution with her demanded for the heads of Oghenevwaire’s parents. 

It was gathered that the Central Hospital, Warri has allegedly ‘seized’ the corpse of Oghenevwaire and also reported the matter to the police, prompting the estranged parents of the late Oghenevwaire to go into hiding as the compound where they live was like a grave yard when our correspondent got there late in the evening of the day of the incident to investigate more about the bizarre incident.
