Kogi State Gov's Chief Of Staff, Wife, Child Involved In Auto Crash

Barely a week after the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello was involved in an auto accident in Lokoja, which has placed his left foot on plaster cast, his Chief of Staff, Mr. Edward Onoja on Thursday was also involved in an auto crash along Abuja-Lokoja road.

  It would be recalled that the Governor fell off his BMW car last Thursday in Lokoja by the Old market while returning to the State from Abuja when he attempted to spray money for some residents while his car was in motion.

Edward Onoja, his wife and their baby were involved in the car crash.
   Source close to Government House Lokoja disclosed on Friday that the accident occurred shortly after Abaji at about 5 pm when the Chief of Staff was returning from Abuja.
 
 According to the source, Edward Onoja's Lexus Jeep swerved from the road and crashed into the bush living him his wife unconscious while the baby was unhurt.
The cause of the accident could not be immediately ascertained.

   It was further learnt that motorist passing by stopped over to assist the victims from the wrecked vehicle as the Jeep was said to have summersaulted several times before ramming into a tree that waged it.
 
  It was also gathered that frantic efforts were made by the rescuers to unstrap the victims as they were trapped by the seat belts.

   The source said Edward Onoja, his wife and the baby were rushed to a private hospital in Abuja.
However, personales of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) were on hand for rescue mission as well as some good other Samaritans.

   However, the Sector Commander of FRSC Kogi State Command Mr. Segun Martins when contacted said the area is not within his territory.
 
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Kogi state chapter, Ahaji Taufiq Isa and hundreds of Muslims joined him to pray for the quick recovery of the Governor of kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
 
 The prayer, which was organized yesterday, was led by the Chief Imam of Odokoro-Gbede, Sheikh, Alhaji Shaidu Arikeuyo, immediately after the two rakat jumaat prayer today.                                  

   According to Arikeuyo," it is always good for Muslims to pray for the wellbeing of fellow citizens, he quoted verses of the Holy Quran to buttress his point, prayed that Allah would hasten the recovery of our leaders, especially our leader who had accident.
 
 "The governor shall surmount all the difficulties and trying moment, and will be healed by the power of Almighty Allah", he said.
