Jesuit Memorial College(JMC), Port Harcourt, which was birthed after the Sosoliso plane crash on December 10, 2005 in Port Harcourt in honour of the 60 Loyola Jesuit College students who lost their lives in the ill fated aircraft is seeking assistance to improve the facilities to keep the memories
of the deceased students alive. The institution lamented that of lack of adequate funding in the running of the school was crippling its efforts in development of the college in Port Harcourt aimed at avoiding such ugly incident again. President of the college, Fr. Emeka Asogwa , said the centre was put up as 'hope reborn' in the hearts of all who were shaken by the tragic event of December 10, 2005. He described the institution as a collective project for the nation and the people, hence; appealing for support to help upgrade the facilities for learning in the school. He said, "…the circumstance that gave birth to JMC, requires collaborative effort and support of parents, spirited individuals, the government and business organization for urgent help". Also,Fr. John Okoria regretted that the government had not given enough attention to the school as promised, but, however, he stated that the building of JMC was a Nigerian project.
